Stop-motion building of the ultimate Falcon

Here’s something to brighten your Sunday. This guy did a stop-motion movie of him building the UCS Millennium Falcon, aka, the one LEGO® set in which the famous starship is to scale! The biggest set ever offered and the one I lost in the divorce but I hope to buy another if given the opportunity. The movie runs close to 10 minutes yet it moves rather quickly and partway through, you hear a parody movie about how Darth Vader was turned into a wimp.

Our concert plans for the rest of 2020

Given all the concerts we (Jennifer and I) had planned, I think this mock ticket is more accurate. I know all of my shows were rescheduled but one. I need to double check on Jennifer’s. At least one was in Vegas.

Another cat participating in safety

This kitty knows he isn’t allowed to go any further into the building unless he passes a temperature check.

This cat is more helpful than my governor

I’m even more impressed by the cat’s owner/human in how they found one patient enough to wear the outfit. Even dogs are more cooperative.

Finally some mainstream truth-telling about Hamilton

Whenever Broadway has a new show that isn’t derived from an Eighties movie or any other decade, I’m thrilled. It is hard to get an original idea to take off in any media these days because too many accountants are in charge and I think audiences’ intelligence is low balled by risk-averse executives. My applause for Hamilton was short lived though. I can live with the (c)Rap Music and the diverse cast is perfectly fine. What annoys me to no end is the hagiography of Alexander Hamilton for he was Bernie Madoff in his day, especially with how he screwed over hundreds as America’s first Treasury Secretary.

So I was thrilled that the New York Times finally publishing an article stating the inaccuracies about Alexander Hamilton and the events in the musical. They consulted actual Historians who sat through the Disney+ presentation. What a relief! After reading this I felt mostly vindicated since I’ve never hid my disdain for the man who put the club on the steering wheel of Democracy through the Electoral College. Plus, I’ve read biographies about Washington and Adams, neither made Hamilton look great; with the former he’s an ass kisser and the latter an antagonist despite being in the same economic-political camp.

Sadly, I fear the damage has been done for a generation. Audiences are more open to new stories and have the intelligence to understand something “complicated” as I said earlier. The downside is they’re gullible enough to think what they’re presented is true. Much of Hamilton is bullshit for the real man was a social-climbing aristocratic wannabe wanting to set up America into a rival monarchy (to the established ones in Europe). He didn’t have a problem with slavery too, another fact left-leaning Mills and Gen Zs will overlook. Now he’s getting an undeserved pedestal alongside Tricky Dick and St. Reagan.

Austin/Travis County will soon be screwed, thanks Gov. Shitbag

Yesterday, my adopted home area exceeded 70 new CV-19 hospitalizations which means we should be implementing something called Stage 5: everything non-essential is shut down or brought to a halt. As much as that sucks, I agree with the experts recommending this course of action. We’re close to overwhelming the area’s ICU capacity. To flatten the local curve, we probably need to have another month-long lockdown. It may hurt businesses in the short term but more dead customers and employees will be worse for the economy in the long run. Historians say the 1918 Influenza Pandemic contributed to the Great Depression and definitely the rise of Fascism in Europe.

The roadblock (more like cock block) is our horrible, idiotic, slave-to-Kapitalism, Republican, science-denying governor who acts like a monarch. He claims his edicts are based in Science (discredited) and he knows best. Obviously, he doesn’t. Along with Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (a bigger piece of shit), he would rather have mass graves for non-White Republican corpses than to risk upsetting all the lobbyists representing corporations. Nevermind, his Covidiot base is spreading the virus through the god barns at a greater rate; I suppose the Jesus Freaks will get their own, separate-but-equal mass grave with jacked up fees courtesy of the crooked funeral industry. I know you shouldn’t wish for the deaths of others yet the top Republicans need to die of this to put a stake through their lack of credibility.

This crisis once again exposes the hypocrisy surrounding the GOP’s “local control” bullshit platform. It’s OK for States to ignore the Feds but Cities? How dare they disobey the Republican Aristocracy with their plastic-bag bans, light-rail systems for those without cars and requiring sick time for all workers in a large city. We cannot have good and/or humane ideas because it upsets rich people.

Dutch Cheetos with a little dig at ‘Murica

Spotted by Jeremy over there in the Netherlands. I’m guessing this is their equivalent of my favorite, Cheetos. Obviously, our marketing and association doesn’t work since the Dutch word for “cheese” is kaas, not sure what “chee” means there, so I can see Flippies due to the curvature on the puffs. As for the letters “XXL” being colored by the American flag (most likely)? I fear they could be a health warning to the Dutch, “Beware! Eating too many of these suckers will make you fat like the Americans!”

Here’s a happy little dog to brighten everyone’s day

Last weekend, I had dinner at Jennifer’s friend’s place and he has these three funny little Pomeranians. To me, the smaller the dog, the more “dog” in their behavior. Bigger dogs think they fit in your lap like my cats. Anyway, this little girl was very happy to sit on my lap, enjoy the outdoors and get spoiled with attention!

Given all the bad news we’re having in America, I wanted to share all the happiness this little doggy is emanating. It warms my heart and reminds me how much dogs love us for being so attentive to them.

RIP Ennio Morricone

Ennio was probably one of the biggest composers before John Williams, namely due to his head start. Like many, I’m more familiar with his Westerns that made Clint Eastwood into a bigger star and then contributing to John Carpenter’s remake of The Thing. When Quentin Tarantino made his Western, The Hateful Eight, he had to have Ennio’s music. Meanwhile, if you go to his imdb.com page you will see he was a super busy guy on both sides of the Atlantic…520 credits.

Thanks for all your wonderful music Ennio. My only regret was not writing about you for Italian Heritage month while you were alive.

Weird microwave spotted in hotel

I guess the company that manufactured this microwave oven feared it becoming obsolete too quickly in this ‘social media’ age. Hell, I don’t even know why there’s a power plug too. Makes the microwave a power hub while you’re re-heating your leftovers in the room. Oh wait, maybe the USB port is there to power a guest’s toaster!

The expected reactions to the governor’s mask order

Glad that I reside in “Alright” territory which is short for “Alright Alright Alright!” Evil MoPac definitely nailed DFW with “End Times,” since that’s a bastion of “freedom.”

The Dynamic Dumbass Duo return!

Uh huh huh uh huh! Cool.

As per the recent news. Mike Judge’s first big successful creation will be returning to TV but this time they’ll be better served through Comedy Central despite 11 minutes of ads per  “half-hour” episode. I was always baffled why MTV tried again in 2011. They lost their lead in animation to become a bullshit reality show network for tweeners. Besides, Beavis & Butt-head were funnier when they were going about their usual adventures: trying to get laid, getting out of working, watching TV, eating junk food, etc. Their only feature film proved that Judge was capable of making something funnier in a longer format. I also think they can make the transition to the world of Generation Z’s smart phones, high-speed Internet, streaming on demand, easier access to what young teen boys want (porn); because moronic people like them are universal. If they were 27 years older as they would be, then Judge could make Idiocracy prequels as these two attend yet another Trump re-election event between their shifts at Wal-Mart.

Welcome back Beavis & Butt-head. I eagerly await your new antics, hopefully through HBO Max since I’m never getting cable again. As you’d say, cable sucks.

Fifteen years of Picayune in this format!

Where are now? Let’s see three Mac Minis and a virtualized server for hosting and two different Weblog solutions. I’ve lost track how long I’ve been with WordPress but when I made the belated jump to the Weblog format, it was to get better at Mac OS X Server 10.4’s solution provided by “blossom,” which wasn’t terribly good. It was susceptible to runaway Java issues and Apple ditched it when 10.5 debuted.

There are days I miss making the magazine/newspaper knockoffs but physical media continues to decline en masse with maybe the exception of vinyl. Plus, I wanted to make this incarnation more interactive which I’d say the Weblog really failed to do at fewer than 600 official comments it has accumulated. I can safely guess there’d be more if my friends or honest strangers didn’t have to undertake the pain-in-the-ass process of having an account. I can thank all the furgin’ Chinese, Russian and other enemies of honest discussion for this as they generate noise about Ugg boots or boner pills.

The real sad thing is how all these gadgets we own haven’t given us more free time to stay in touch. If they’ve done anything, they’ve sucked up what little we did have. It’s something Douglas Coupland mocked 23 years ago in Girlfriend in a Coma and he was writing the book, Western culture was still on dial-up, pagers and fax machines.

Well, I’m going to keep pushing, posting my reviews, stories, whatever like messages in a bottle floating out into the Internet Ocean, hoping they get a thoughtful response. Let’s see if I can continue another 15 years too. Oy! I’ll be 66 then. Well, in 2005, I wasn’t keen on seeing myself doing this at 51 neither.

Gov. Dumbass reverses course…partially

As per the news, Texas had a surge in CV-19 cases Wednesday; to the number of 8000 in a day. So our reality-denying, race-baiting, shitbag governor finally issued an order stating that mask wearing is mandatory in counties with over 20 cases. In short, this would be statewide. Arizona’s moronic leadership is also coping with the truth.

How am I doing? I should be OK. Found out last week I was exposed with 99% certainty via Somara. She was really ill and the doctor(s) said, oh it’s just a lung infection. Somara thankfully recovered but the doctor(s) now conclude, she must’ve contracted it based upon all the symptoms experienced. The day I was exposed, was the day I drove her to the the title company to sign the paperwork to take sole possession of my house. Somara wore a mask and stayed in the car the whole time while I did what I needed to do with the title person. This happened back in March.

This doesn’t make me immune. I continue to wear my mask in public spaces because I may still be vulnerable or worse, I’m “immune” and I might be a carrier.

Currently, I am hoping for the best with a good friend whose housemate tested positive for the virus. I don’t want anything bad for her nor her housemate.
